Lotus Pond Launch

Today I made it up Ashville Bridge Creek from Horn Point, and I saw that the Lotus are really thick this year, and as the bigger leaves start coming out, I’d be willing to bet it will b close ti impossible to get through the creek here. If the creek looks impassable, you may want consider heading dow the road to Little Island, or over to Horn Point.

Paddle For The Children

I feel this is a noble cause, and you should really consider supporting it.

A team of 4 Virginia Beach Fire Fighters will be paddling 1,000 miles from Ft Lauderdale to Virginia Beach. The goal of this effort is to raise $20,000 to support The Shriners Burns Institute.

My Lens is Back

Three weeks ago, I mentioned that I dropped my camera, and did something to the lens, and how I had the Ritz Camera extended super duper take care of any problem warranty.

Well Ritz called on Thursday, to inform me that the lens was back and good to go. Sure enough I go there Saturday, and the lens is alive and well. I had my doubts, as I have been burnt in the past on these things, expecting the old “Well you dropped it and thats not fully covered” and having to shell out $20 or $30+, but that was not the case. I stopped by, and me being the dork I am, I forgot the camera at home, but we went ahead and tried it on an E-410 they had on the shelf. Everything is now happy and I am back to a 100% on the camera front, now if I could only get the talent part up to that also, I’d be a happy camper. And I didn’t have to pay anything for the repairs.

So if you’re looking for a camera, and plan on using it in a less then camera friendly environment, like kayaking, I would highly recommend the Ritz Camera extended supper whammo-dyne service plan, because I think to replace the lens would have cost twice what I paid for the service plan.

Raleigh Durham Launch Information

Came across this website Doggie Paddling the Triangle during a discussion about the differences between Watersnakes and Cottonmouths…

As described by the author:
Personal site of Tom Hemp, offering image galleries and GPS routes for kayaking in Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill.

Even though I am not familiar with the Raleigh Durham area, looks like it has a lot of launch information for the area, and the guy kayaks with his dog, I wish my dog was relaxed enough to go with me.
